As we reported in November, the organizers of the annual Table Mountain Star Party are looking for a new site for the event, at least for this year, because of a forest fire that damaged the Table Mountain site in September. The board of the star party has completed a private survey of those who have attended the event over the last three years, and is now seeking input from other former or potential participants.
Follow this link to get to the online survey. It’s a short questionnaire, and will only take a few minutes to complete. It asks for preferences about site conditions and amenities, as well as for desired programming for the star party. The survey will be open through the end of January.
When they made the decision to move last fall, organizers set a goal to decide on a new site by January. Clearly, with the survey open until the end of the month, that timeline has slipped a little. We have not heard back from the board if it has set a firm deadline for making that call. The 2013 Table Mountain Star Party, wherever it is held, is scheduled for Aug. 8-10.
