Many businesses, products, and places have names rooted in space and astronomy. We’re featuring one every Tuesday on Seattle Astronomy.
Today’s Astro Biz is Old Moon zinfandel. Old Moon is part of Trader Joe’s private series of “Trader Moon” wines, which make’s TJ’s a great place to pick up ideas for the Astro Biz column! Zins can sometimes cost a pretty penny, so this old vine wine is a bargain at around $6. We have to fess up and say that we haven’t actually tried any yet.
We picked Old Moon because we actually had an old Moon yesterday. The term is sometimes used for the lunar phase when our satellite is in its last day as a waning crescent. The Moon turned new and became a waxing crescent at 6:39 a.m. yesterday, but up until that moment it was old. Apparently it’s true that everything old is new again.
